This post is at the request of the Twitter network I belong to. I tweeted this morning asking people what industries they think will be the slowest to adopt social media. I’ve included a highlight of my favorite responses (including a few comical responses, as well). Thanks to all who responded!
Which industries do YOU think will be among the last to adopt social media? Why?

Financial advisers because their industry is tightly regulated. Inappropriate conduct or unapproved info is grounds to lose their licenses.

Agree on financial especially those targeting business. Had a client who specializes in finance software for businesses… and all I could find were personal finance resources, stock market, etc. No business finance, cash flow, etc.
Gas and oil industry. Some don’t even have web sites.

I think perhaps Law Enforcement might be a tad slow in adopting a social media platform…though they might be wiser than not.

Education seems to be a slow industry to adopt. Not necessarily at the university level, more K-12 education.

Blue collar jobs in general and many outdoor professions too. Naturally, jobs that don’t require sitting in front of a computer come to mind first.
