Weekly polls offer quick pulse, free data for you
- 11 Comment
As my network grows, I thought it might be nice to do something for the good of all. Sounds logical that I would think of polls, right? Ha.
Made me chuckle at first, too.
However, after trying out a few polls the past two weeks, the responses were anything but comical. Reaching hundreds and almost one thousand people in one to two days is pretty powerful stuff considering I had to do little more than tweet, post and email.
Based on the responses I’ve received thus far, I’m going to offer a new poll every week (sometimes bi-weekly). The data is then available to YOU to use for whatever you like.
Journalists and public relations professionals – think about the possibilities.
While the polls are hosted via an application called Twtpoll, they are not only distributed via Twitter. In fact, I distribute them via Facebook (to my personal network and the #journchat members), Twitter, LinkedIn and my own, personal email distribution list (which includes many people not involved in social media).
It is my hope these polls serve as useful resources to journalists, public relations and marketing professionals and various industry leaders – who the majority of the time need access to information, fast.
Have a poll question you’d like to see shared?
If you have a specific question YOU WOULD LIKE ASKED, email your submission (must be less than 140 characters) to prsarahevans at gmail dot com. (If you’re a journalist looking to use the polling data for a story, I respect all confidentiality and exclusivity.)
This week’s question! What is the FIRST media outlet you look/listen to in order to get your news on a DAILY/consistent basis?

I love twtpoll! I was looking for an alternate to evite today – after I saw your tweet about plingg I created a poll about which event/invitation website people use.
I’ve had several bookmarked for a while but haven’t used them yet so I wanted some input. http://twtpoll.com/jkbnqf

Do you think these poll results might be a little skewed, considering your distribution methods? Especially in the numbers for twitter.

The results from your first question fly in the face of what other polls say. I’m guessing it’s because most of your poll participants are using the internet more heavily than your average person.
I know this Pew Research Center poll (2008) is a little older than this week’s question, but it still shows a slightly different picture than your poll. http://people-press.org/report/444/news-media
We mustn’t forget that most people are innovators, and they’re still trying to catch up to the innovators who are the likely respondents to your poll.

I’ve found these polls really interesting. Especially to see a better perspective from the Twitter community.
Keep up the good work!

Polls are a great way to get feedback on any website. Most people don’t want to sit down and do a long survey, but they usually have no problem answering a 1 question poll. By asking the right questions you can get incredible insight into your website visitors.

[...] Poll: What is the first media outlet you look/listen in order to get your news on a daily/consistent… Saddened (but not surprised) to see print low on the list. Created with twtpoll (multiple choice only). [...]
