Spice up your mainpage with card.ly
How many times do you have to add, upload or link to your online communities? If you’re anything like me, it’s quite often. There are a few platforms out there which allow you to create what is essentially an online business card, but card.ly is my new favorite. The set up process was easy and there were 27 background options (and that’s just in the free version). I was also able to grab the embed code and share directly on my blog (see below).
Even if you don’t use card.ly, you should consider creating a place to streamline all of your feeds and sites. Why? It will make your online life a bit easier, visually shows your online presence and makes a nice addition anytime you need a single link to share in a blog comment.
What I like most:
- A short and personalized URL address (http://card.ly/prsarahevans)
- Social media-friendly look and feel
- Ability to add personal and professional contact information
- 140-character bio
I’m a fan of the free site, but don’t know if I’d spend the money to go pro (even though it’s $3 a month). Do you use card.ly or a service like it? What else would you like to see in an online business card and/or mainpage?
ABOUT
Card.ly allows you to have your own mini business card profile, without needing to have any design or programming skill. We will host it for you also. Most parts of the site are free as well. Developed by: @olivierturbis, @giggsey and @harknesslabs.

Main advantage of this “mini business card profile” (to use the expression employed on the site) can be created without being technically knowledgeable, that is, you can create it without knowing anything about programming at all.

Personally I would do without another social network profile to fill out. I am getting a little overloaded with it all. I guess I’ll probably still check it out later though.

It seems like a cool service, but I am not sure if it will catch on, if the domain name was a short dot com, I think it would be alot simpler. And yeah paying $3 per month for pro… doesn’t seem like a good deal to me.
Till then,
Jean

That’s a great idea. I probably wouldn’t use it as I find that a small sidebar message is normally sufficient, however with you being in the PR business I can see the usefulness.

Awesome tool to have somewhere at the bottom of your site or in a forum signature. I’ve already implemented this on my website, but I’m not too sure if it’s worth the $3/mo like you mentioned. It seems like something that could be coded in HTML, and they need the option to add more social media networks.
