Happy first birthday #journchat

The chat between journalists, bloggers and public relations professionals explores each industry’s integration with social media while creating and cultivating relationships. Each Monday 200+ participants send questions to the moderator, Sarah Evans (@journchat), and respond to others’ comments.
This past year #journchat has had featured guests (who responded to non-stop questions for two hours), including:
Jennifer Preston, social media editor, New York Times
Steve Brusk, national assignment editor, CNN
Adam Ostrow, managing editor, Mashable
Richard Laermer, founder, Bad Pitch Blog
What’s next?
The first #journchat LIVE was hosted on August 17, 2009 with seven locations across the United States and Canada, in addition to the online forum. The announcement of the next LIVE date is coming up in December.
#journchat success stories will also be shared in 2010. Several participants have shared how they landed a job, internship, story or source from those they met in the chat. Stay tuned!
Improvements currently up for consideration are: weekly themes and/or topics, chat questions selected and submitted in advance of the chat (via the #journchat Facebook group) among others.
