Play nice
Share Play nice. This is probably one of the keys in the book “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten,” but I haven’t read it. It’s a simple statement. In fact, it’s one of the rules I share each week as #journchat begins. It’s meant as a “gentle” reminder that we need to respect one another as we share opinions. Online communication is an entirely different monster, especially when it’s limited to 140-characters. It’s easy to misunderstand someone or vice versa, or to enter a conversation without context. It’s much more difficult to take the time to ask questions and ensure you understand what someone is trying to say. Good communication isn’t only what you say but what the other person hears/sees.

Good point Sarah. I remember numerous times when online communication led to misunderstandings. You may think you are being clear, but from a different perspective, what you are saying may be taken in a completely different context.

As I dug into the VF6 affair, it got sadder and funnier as I went. It seems new media has issues and so does the zeitgeist of online reporting in the mean era. I made a tongue in cheek video on YouTube about it and since you’re in it, thought you might like to know.
Have a great weekend.

I just saw a very good example of what you’re talking about play out on facebook. One particularly obnoxious fellow got giving a collective unfriend by a whole lot of people he had been annoying individually, and when one persoin actually had the guts to stand up to him the domino effect really rolled in!

Another reason that online communication can lead to bad behavior is that people take advantage of the anonymous nature of the internet. People are far more likely to speak their mind when hiding behind a computer instead of being face to face.

This free E-Book is available to view in your browser to read online and to download to your computer. I highly recommend giving it a read, it has many insightful strategies from Brad that will open your eyes and allow you to profit from Google AdWords. The book takes you step by step through various scenarios and uses practical examples to explain the process of writing your ads and making use of different types of keywords and phrases. All the elements of a successful campaign include the use of landing page and Google quality score as well as keywords – long tail and short.

Treating people like you wish to be treated is something I learnt early on in life. It really makes sense if you think about it.

Communication plays a vital role in achieving the success of the group. You can differentiate a group from a team when each member argues each other without respecting each other’s opinions.

you could also link to a page where you are not limited to 140 characters – there you can really say what you mean, and mean what you say.
