February 2010

If you knew that someone didn’t have a good place to live, would you help?
1 in 62 Americans have an intellectual disability, many requiring lifelong help. March is National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and we’re asking for your help to spread the word and support our cause. Mosaic is the leading provider of services for people with intellectual disabilities providing complete care, from homes and clothing, to work, freedom and the pursuit of personal happiness. This month, we’re raising awareness and money to help.  The goal – raise $25,000 in March to make a difference in the lives of as many individuals as possible.  Visit http://wouldyouhelp.org to share our message.

Second annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale
The second annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale (WVBS) is April 24 through May 2, 2010. The WVBS concept is simple: Groups around the world hold vegan bake sales during a nine-day period (two weekends and the week in between). Participating groups can do *whatever they want with their bake sale proceeds.* The only rule is that everything sold or given away at the bake sales has to be vegan. Last year, 100 bake sales on four continents raised over $25,000 for a variety of worthy causes.  VegNews Magazine called the WVBS the “Veg Event of the Year.” To participate: www.veganbakesale.org.

United States Run
Bruce Johnson is running 3,000 beginning January 15 to benefit the Community Crisis Center of Elgin, IL. He is literally donating his feet (and entire self) to this cause. This makes his feet key to the movement. So we thought, what if you could buy every step Bruce takes? There are 12 inches in a foot, thus the idea was born for $12 a step. With every step, Bruce runs to make sure there’s always a safe place to go. He runs so that his past helps create a better future for others. 12 inches × 5,280 feet × 3,000 miles = endless possibilities. <MORE>
