Katarina Rostova is a former KGB intelligence officer and the mother of Elizabeth Keen. Trained by her father, Katarina was assigned with the mission of seducing and spying on Raymond Reddington.
Kaplan, known as Kathryn Nemec, is hired by Liz's mother, Katarina Rostova, to be Liz's caretaker. Kate learns about Katarina's relationship with Reddington and that he believes that Liz is his child.
The real Raymond Reddington was Liz's father and was killed by his daughter's hand as a child when she shot him. Katarina went into hiding at this point and Liz was sent off to live with her adoptive father, Sam.
Before her death, Tatiana was ordered to assume Katarina's identity to keep Liz and her mother safe from the wrath of the Townsend Directive. Liz ultimately discovered that her mother is still alive (although her whereabouts are unknown), but the truth about Raymond Reddington still hasn't totally been revealed.
And in this exclusive clip, Dembe is the one going on the offensive. In Season 8, an ailing Reddington wrote a letter to Liz Keen (Megan Boone) explaining who he really was — seemingly her mother, Katarina Rostova — and gave it to Dembe with instructions to give Liz the letter after his death.
